"India's Daughter is one of the
most important video documents
of the 21st century."
- Emma Thompson
Director Leslee Udwin is the award-winning producer of both social justice documentaries (Who Bombed Birmingham?) as well as hit feature films (East is East, BAFTA winner - and Archie Panjabi's film debut). Herself a victim of rape, Leslee was galvanized by the courage and conviction of the New Delhi protestors to dedicate the last few years of her life to bringing India’s Daughter to the big screen. Underlying the documentary is a sense of optimism that we can change - and a belief in the power of film to inspire social transformation globally.
